‘Beyond the New Gold Mountain’ Conference in RMIT

From Australia’s gold rush days to the present, the Chinese have played an important role in Australia’s settlement and economy. Yet, this is not reflected in the annals of Australian history. In convening this conference in 2017, CCCAV seeks to highlight the role of the Chinese in Australia’s history.

The conference will examine the trials and tribulations of the early Chinese, the contributions of the Chinese in Australia and the present day importance of China as Australia’s leading trading partner. Speakers will be from both academia and the community in Australia and China.
